This brilliant cartoon by E.H. Shepard appeared in the 2nd May, 1945 issue of Punch. Entitled The Last Heil it depicts German soldiers hoisting the corpse of Hitler in the air and waving him as you would a white flag. E.H. Shepard (illustrator of Winnie The Pooh) would not have known that Hitler was dead at the time of drawing this cartoon, as his death was only announced on the 1st May, 1945, and this Punch issue would have been printed a few days before that.
